When UK Cricket TV was in its infancy we discussed with people within the cricket world the challenges Clubs were facing and the opportunities Web TV could bring to them. A big focus was on fan engagement and audience figures. Most importantly, County cricket clubs were looking at ways of increasing commercial revenue to help them survive and grow.
UK Cricket TV and our Web TV platform offers a new commercial revenue stream for County Cricket. At this stage static adverts on Essex site range from £395 per month to £795, with sponsorship opportunities available also. Programmatic advertising has proven popular with clubs, enabling them to bring in extra revenue through site adverts and in play ads.
With viewing figures up and sell out crowds at The CloudFM County Ground, Essex have now turned their attention to Pay per View matches. Friday night saw Essex trialing a PPV setup with plans to charge for watching the Livestream of future T20 and international matches. This setup gives clubs the ability to engage better with fans whilst growing their global and commercial audience.
In 2015 there were 1 billion videos per day being watched on the web each day, in 2016 it is 8 billion, By 2020, there will be almost a million minutes of video per second crossing the internet.
As discussed in our previous blog, the viewing figures for our Web TV platforms are rising on a weekly basis, now is the time for County Cricket clubs to maximise these revenue streams.
